The Author

W.J. "Sandy" Sandell had four years US navy in the Korean War to make him eligible for The Pennsylvania American Legion.

On Post level Sandy has been a member for 32 years of the Carl Neff American legion Post 571 and was awarded an honorary life membership for that Post.  Sandy has held all of the Post offices except Adjutant, including two years of 100% Commander.  Currently he serves as Sr. Vice commander and membership Chairman.

Sandy is plenty familiar with working on Department level as he has been Asst. Sgt-at-Arms, Chairman of the SAL, Vice Chairman for Legion College, Vice Chairman for KBS, Western Section Chaplain, Western Section Finance Officer, Western Section Commander, Western Section Parliamentarian and Chairman for VA&R for 5 years.

Sandy is married to Karen and has two daughters (Christine and Kathleen), one son (Thomas), one stepdaughter (Christine) and nine grandchildren.

He is dedicated to the ideals and programs of the American Legion and will do his utmost to promote all programs and carry on the tradition of the Great Pennsylvania Department of The American Legion.
